Awesome Band Of Week: 29 - Stone Sour

New single from Stone Sour, me likes, must listen to more stuff from this band



Stone Sour is an American alternative metal band from Des Moines, Iowa. The current line up is lead vocalist Corey Taylor, lead guitarist Jim Root, rhythm guitarist Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki, and drummer Roy Mayorga, who replaced former drummer and founding member Joel Ekman. They first formed in 1992 but when on a hiatus due to Corey Taylor and Jim Root joining Slipknot. They reformed in 2002 and released their debut self-titled album. They went on another break due to Taylor and Root going back to Slipknot to work and their third studio album. After Slipknot when on break after touring in 2006, Taylor and Root returned to Stone Sour and released their second studio, Come What(ever) May. They went on another break after touring in 2008 so Taylor and Root could return to Slipknot to release their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone. After Slipknot went on break,Taylor and Root returned to Stone Sour to work on their third album, Audio Secrecy,which is due to be out on September 7, 2010. They are currently on tour for the album and are going to be at the first annual Uproar Festival. After Uproar, they will go on a co-headlining tour in the UK Along with Avenged Sevenfold.

Awesome Band Of Week: 28 - Killswitch Engage

After seeing these guys perform on Graspop 2010, I've started loving them even more! Here's their version of Dio's Holy Diver, and in my honest opinion, they nailed it



Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbandment of Overcast and Aftershock. Killswitch Engage's current lineup consists of vocalist Howard Jones, bassist Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, and drummer Justin Foley. The band's membership has changed in the decade since its founding as illness, changes in life-situation, and new interests have drawn the men in different directions. The band has released five studio albums and one DVD.
